OUR STORY
HOW WE MET 👫
We first laid eyes upon each other roughly 15 years ago in the halls of Eden High School. Carly was in her brace-face/twerp days, while Colby was putting sandpaper to jeans, ya know, to put holes in them because that's what Abercrombie was doing. From that moment we've dated long-distance, traveled to some really great places, and moved from New York to Florida to California!
WHAT WE 😍 ABOUT EACH OTHER
We help one another find balance in life. For example, Carly pushes Colby to make the most of everything, get outside as much as possible, and fill the house with puppies and love! On the other hand, Colby pushes Carly to get outside her comfort zone, try new things and keep her eye on the prize (ie. Build a massive animal sanctuary someday, duh!)
THE 💍
After walking for way too long on a winter afternoon, Colby stopped and annoyingly asked Carly to take a handful of pictures with the dogs. We were hungry, tired, cold and the dogs were desperately trying to go swimming in a nearby lake. However, the annoying picture taking was all a setup!
It was a setup for one final picture... one where we'd be a different couple in! Before the final picture was taken Colby asked Carly if she'd be his better half.

GETTING THERE
WEDDING DAY LOGISTICS
Paid parking at the Ceremony & Reception location. Traffic can be fairly brutal in Lake Tahoe during the summer – use a map application to see how early you'll want to leave.
AIR TRAVELS
The closest large-scale airport to Lake Tahoe is Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO), which is a 45-minute drive to the most northern part of the lake (Incline Village). The next closest airport is Sacramento International Airport (SMF), which is a 2-hour drive to the west shore. The most commonly used airports are San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK), which are respectively a 3.5-hour and 3-hour drive to the west shore.
For those feeling adventurous, there's also a company called Blackbird that flies to Tahoe out of Palo Alto, CA or Sausalito, CA.
CAR TRAVELS
For those traveling to California via plane we recommend renting a vehicle. There are taxis, Uber, Lyft and a bus system in the Lake Tahoe Basin, but immediate availability is heavily based on where you're located. All airports mentioned above have rental car centers (ie. Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, etc.).
There's also companies that rent cars a little differently than the Hertz's of the world. Instead of renting from a company, you'd actually rent from an individual. The benefits really boil down to potentially cheaper rates and a wider selection; check out Turo and Getaround.
For those feeling adventurous, Amtrak also has stations in Lake Tahoe.
ACCOMMODATION
There's a lot of options! For those interested in renting a private residence we recommend searching for something on the California side of Lake Tahoe through Airbnb, HomeAway or Tahoe Luxury Properties. This would most likely work out best for larger groups, or people willing to share a place. Nevada side is just as great so feel free to look there as well, but keep in mind this will position you further away from wedding events.
A few hotel options in the interim of us setting aside a block of rooms: Basecamp Hotel in Tahoe City or South Lake Tahoe, Sunnyside Resort in Tahoe City or The Cottage Inn in Tahoe City. Click here to see Google's full hotel list in Lake Tahoe. Other locations that are a bit further away, but possible are Reno and Carson City. South Lake Tahoe Casinos / Reno
For those feeling adventurous, there's also tons of camping in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Our favorite camping spots include: Kaspian, Fallen Leaf and the actual wedding location: Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park.
